Hi, I’m Monica
I’m an explorer of experiences, perspectives, and mysteries. I’m devoted to a path of creative self transformation, and diligently supporting those who are interested in the knowledge, skills, and teachings I have integrated along the way.
I work with a variety of modalities to help those I work with reconnect to their bodes, their inner authority, and their expanded selves. The common themes through out all modalities I work through is refocusing attention in our physicality, and relearning how to listen to the individually specific ways our bodies signal us to align with truth.
My Story
Like many others, I grew up internalizing the message that I needed to constantly manipulate, distort, and battle against myself in order to survive and be lovable. The belief that my body (and by extension my whole self) was a problem to be solved rather than a gift to be enjoyed ran deep. I lived much of my life self destructively, acting out of pain and fear.
Thankfully, I had a restless curiosity for what else was possible that led me to explore different ways of being, and ultimately a path out of despondency. My explorations took the form of extended overseas travel, working as a visual artist, seeking out renowned healers, studying ancient spiritual traditions, working with plants, animals, and fungi, being in love, working in corporate technology, giving birth outside the medical system, and becoming a single mother, among others.
Perhaps notably, I began practicing yoga as a fifteen year old before the mainstream yoga explosion was in full swing. I had the gift of being introduced to yoga by a gentle woman who encouraged me to approach the practice as a way to listen, explore, and be receptive to my body, rather than to manipulate it (which I was already well versed at). Because of the simple and compassionate approach I was taught, yoga became an anchor for me through tumultuous times ahead.
Substance abuse, addiction, eating disorders, chronological skin diseases, ongoing nerve and muscle pain, abusive relationships, rejection, abandonment, and toxic work environments were some of the many experiences that pushed me to develop the skills and the capacity to see and express myself with more clarity and honesty.
Along with yoga, I have utilized many other teachings and modalities to release the heaviest of the blockages and destructive patterning I once carried. The ease, vitality, and vibrance I now experience in my body, and throughout my life was once unimaginable to me. The things that have worked most effectively for me have all been simple but not easy. I am honored and delighted to provide a container for others to engage these simple but life changing practices so that they too can experience their innate vitality.
Currently I live in West Plains, Missouri with my 2 year old daughter, Helena. We spend a lot of time in the woods, at the river, cuddling, creating and appreciating various art forms. Thank you for being here.
For the curious…
